Hawaiian Honeymoon

Although Thomas is still hanging onto that "vacation mentality" and enjoying Gin and Tonics in the afternoon, we have returned home from our honeymoon. Thank you to all of you who helped make this happen!!! Hawaii had all the romantic scenes and tropical waters to make us feel like we really got away and had a honeymoon despite my enormous pregnant belly. We lounged on the beach, snorkeled, hiked, and were generally lost in each other for 9 days on Oahu and Kauai.

Its wonderful to be back home and starting our third trimester. Traveling was getting hard on my body. However it is so hot here and being pregnant doesn't help! I want to climb into the freezer and sleeping well seems like a thing of the past, but then the baby moves about to remind me this is all part of the deal....and worth it.

New Turtle in our pond

It's hard to tell but this red-eared slider is huge. Our other turtles are about the size of my hand, this guy is at least twice that size. Which is the reason he ended up in the lap of luxury in the first place. My friend Laurence was bereft over the decision, but Baba Booey had simply become too big for his aquarium. Carrie and I are hoping that he will be a little more adjusted to humans and not flee in abject terror every time he sees us. We catch little more than fleeting glances of our other 2 turtles and have taken to standing on a banister some 20 feet away to spy on them sunbathing on their rock. So far he seems to be sulking in the bottom of the pond though, maybe he misses Laurence? Nah.

We leave for our honeymoon in Hawaii on Monday and I'm very excited. I plan on making the most of it as it will probably be our last vacation for quite some time and certainly be our last vacation alone for even longer. Of course who needs a vacation when you have children!? Wait a sec ....

It's alive!

My belly is moving around like crazy! Its so bizarre and exciting to see these alien-like movements happening without my prompting. There is definitely a little living thing in there and its already moving with a mind of its own.

We heard about this Chinese gender calculator that is supposed to be 93% accurate or something like that. Anyway... there are several sites online with these charts and they had different readings! Most say male, but one said female. So... I guess we'll just have to wait some more to find out.

We are off to Hawaii for our honeymoon on Monday the 14th. Can't wait to get me feet in the sand and relax!

Pictures from March

Easter Sunday at San Julian Ranch. We went to a lovely picnic on this beautiful old ranch near Lompoc. Besides great food and company, we met a couple of new parents with their babies and got to ask all sorts of questions... plus I was showered with affection over my "pregnant glow" -- which was great fun!

Belly shots:

Baby booties. I found this adorable little pattern online and sewing up a storm making little booties for the baby.

And a little quilt in progress...

And, as per usual, the kitty has been cute

Welcome

With our recent move, a baby on the way and trying to readjust in general, Thomas and I have been a little reclusive... so here is a little window into what has been going on with us.

I am looking undeniably pregnant these days...belly seems so huge, and then it grows some more. The baby is kicking, dictating in which position I am allowed to sleep and generally bringing joy into our lives. We are getting so excited but there is still a feeling of spinning our wheels and waiting for July to come. Nine months seems to be taking an awful long time!

In the meantime, we're enjoying each other in these last months of alone time. We know that when this baby does come the Carrie and Thomas show is going to be drastically altered. We are taking our honeymoon this month to Hawaii for 10 days.

We have a wonderful little house on the west side ... back on our old street! Its a really precious spot with a big backyard with a pond and veggie garden. We still miss living in Berkeley and are getting acclimated to Santa Barbara, but we're steadily finding our niche again.
